Students, get ideas for your arts graduation work that also benefits your community! Do a senior project, exhibition, portfolio, or community service project that also benefits the arts! See below for ideas...

  • Students set up community art galleries to showcase their work and learn arts administrative duties including curating, promoting, organizing venues
  • Students organize in school or community concerts showcasing student performances including curating, organizing and promoting
  • Students develop oral histories of area and use digital storytelling project to develop/publish online
  • Students work with local organizations to develop projects with visual/audio/digital components e.g. library, land trust, non-profit
  • Students research, write and produce short videos/plays based on the characters who have contributed to and preserved the landscape of the area
  • Students produce personal maps/digital stories demonstrating their life journeys or the journey of the local heroes
  • Students create, promote and conduct tours of community icons researching and creating documentation and materials for visitors
  • Students learn folk and traditional arts of historic period
  • Students build websites for local historic sites
  • Students use digital storytelling recreating period characters and connect to pertinent local websites e.g. historical society, town website.
  • Students research, write and produce short videos/plays/documentaries based on the local characters (current or historical)
  • Students research and create powerpoint created for broad use at meetings and the website, based on national research around the arts and workforce development, arts and literacy, arts and social/cognitive development
  • Students work with downtown businesses to merchandise stores, design sales materials and build websites
  • Students research and help local businesses design and build virtual communities and track communications (blogs, Twitter, Google)
  • Students use local businesses for architecture projects, building models of their ideas and presenting at a special "Town Council Meeting"
  • Student create community on thinkartslifelearning.com blog to communicate ideas and develop dialogue around projects
